Who Are We?
JM Johnston Consultants is a team of dedicated, knowledgeable and personal registered professionals, who provide a wide range of architectural and building surveying services.
With almost three decades of experience and knowledge in a variety of projects and sectors, from new build, extensions, refurbishment and remodelling projects within the residential, education, commercial, care and ecclesiastical sectors, we can help you realise the full potential of your project ensuring that it is delivered on time and on budget.
From our office in Cavan Town, we work across the north-east region and beyond, to provide bespoke design and building surveying services that are tailored to our clients’ individual needs and aspirations.
The company, headed by Jarlath Johnston, who has been actively involved in architectural design & Building Surveying sector for over 25 years.

What We Do
At J.M. Johnston Consultants, we offer a comprehensive suite of architectural and project building surveying services tailored to residential and commercial developments. From concept design and planning applications to full project delivery and specialist reports, we bring clarity, precision, and efficiency to every stage of your build. Backed by a trusted network of consultants, including engineers, BER assessors, and surveyors, we provide both standalone services and fully managed packages to meet your exact requirements.
Concept design, detail design, documentation and contract administration of residential and commercial buildings. 3D renderings and computer aided design and drafting (CAD). We have strong relationships with local planning authorities, engineers, builders and suppliers.
Our team play a pivotal role in the design and construction sector. We ensure quality and durability of buildings including residential, public and commercial. We provide expert advice on ways to improve buildings by identifying issues giving advice on repairs, maintenance and restoration.
